In the late 1600’s, the capital was named Annapolis for Princess Anne, the Queen of England 1702. The city was built to reflect the great capitals of Europe, a grand street plan that revolved around the Capital building. Annapolis is the well-known home of the United States Naval Academy, one block away from The Annapolis Inn.
